Our best friend, Jane, goes to Hong Kong for 2 years training at work. She told us that Hong Kong is a very beautiful City. She loves Hong Kong and asks us to visit her and the City. Charlotte and I went there for 4 days in March. It's our first time to visit Hong Kong~~! :>

It's very exciting! We arrived Hong Kong International Airport at 3 pm. We were surprised with the efficiency of Hong Kong people! It took only half an hour for all immigration check points. After we settled down at a hotel in Mongkok, we started our journey!

The first place that we visited were the Avenue of Stars. WOW~~ It's multimedia light show - A Symphony of Lights!! What a surprise! It's so beautiful!

After the night show, we went to have sushi in a Japanese restaurant, and after that we are went to the hotel by taxi. It’s very crowded at the weekend! There were lots of booths at the each side of the street which made the road quite narrow. A place with lots of inexpensive daily goods~ And we bought some cute sticker to our little nephew! :>

Garden street in Mongkok: What a busy street!

We had a dim sum lunch in Chinese restaurant. It's an interesting experience. We saw some people reading newspapers and magazines while having the lunch! We ordered for several dishes dim sum, e.g. har gau, steamed dumplings sui mai, spring roll, ricesheet roll and pork puns, etc. with the Chinese tea. It was my first time to drink Chinese tea, and it seemed a good match with dim sum! And I decided to buy some Chinese tea to my parents at end of the trip!

After the lunch, we took the ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central and did shopping in Admiralty’s shopping mall. The clothes and luxuries are so fancy. And we, crazy shoppers, bought lots of clothes and shoes in there~

After shopping for 2 hours, we were so tired. ~_~ We met Chinese Bill who was Jane’s boyfriend. He brought us to have Hong Kong's style afternoon tea in a restaurant in Wanchai. Bill was a charming guy, he introduced us that there was a slang in HK: 3.15pm, tea time; and he recommended us favorite foods for afternoon tea in a HK - milk tea, egg tart and pineapple bun with butter. The egg tart was tasty. We heard that the former Hong Kong governor, Chris Pattern loves it too~

Egg Tart

Pineapple Bun with Butter

The next stop was Causeway Bay for shopping again! We were very surprised the 3 shopping places we went for that day were in different style! The teenagers in Causeway Bay looked trendy! And the accessories there were very attractive with a reasonable price!

We then went to SOHO, Central, there are lots of western style restaurant. As introduced by Jane, the temple was popular for local people and also visitors. People come to the temple for praying their God for health and family, while visitors appreciate the architectural building. To me, it is ok. (I didn’t have much interest on Chinese style architecture! :p)

We went to have vegetarian food for lunch. Jane said that people would like to have vegetarian dishes after praying. The vegetarian dishes are more or less the same as the dim sum in Chinese restaurant, just that the ingredients are all vegetables! (I like traditional Dim Sum more.)

In the afternoon, we went to the Space Museum in Tsim Sha Tsui. I like stars and we enjoyed a show about stars there.

At the evening, we have another enjoyable activities prepared by Jane. We joined a local tour, we travelled the Nathan Road, Temple Street (similar style as ladies market in Mongkok) and had a dinner in Aberdeen, the last stop was seeing the most beautiful scene of Hong Kong from the Peak! However, for tourists, a ferry trip is worth-while.

http://www.starferry.com.hk/

The Peak

The Peak can be reached by Peak Tram. The Tram goes from mid-levels to Victoria Peak.
